Course Description: Have you recently lost a spouse? Are you dreading being alone during the upcoming holidays? Has the pandemic made you feel even more isolated and lonely than before social connections became limited? Loneliness, especially in the senior population, can impact physical and emotional health and well-being. This workshop was created to give support, information, advice, and coping skills to people who are dealing with loneliness. Participants will be encouraged to offer anonymous questions beforehand for our guest panel of experts in various fields who will not only address these questions but will also offer mitigating techniques from medical, emotional, faith, and spiritual perspectives. Additional  time will be given for a general Q & A based on the information conveyed during the workshop.  Join us for inspiring approaches to strengthening connections and finding the joy of living!

Our panel of presenters includes Linda Albert, award-winning writer and communication and personal life coach with a master certification in neurolinguistics; Ruth Fishel, M.Ed., nationally known author, meditation teacher, retreat and workshop leader;  Cheryl Hamlin, LCSW,CDP, Director of Senior Services, JFCS; Dilip Mathur, Hindu spiritual leader and speaker on wisdom and happiness; Rabbi Dr. Goldie Milgram, MSW, award-winning author, and innovator in the field of experiential, spiritual, and bioethics education, Rabbi Stephen L. Sniderman, DD, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Israel; LB Wish, licensed clinical social worker, psychologist, author and vice president of Gulfcoast Healthstyle, FL

Special Thanks: We are grateful to Temple Beth Israel  member Suzanne Schuster who came forth with the idea of four compelling subjects in a series focusing on the senior population and which secured our grant from the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. The other three topics 1) Preparing Your Will Equitably 2) Senior Sex: What Can I Expect? and 3) Helping a Family Member with Dementia/Alzheimer’s are being developed and coordinated and will be announced sometime in January through Temple Beth Israel’s newsletters and eblasts to everyone on the Education Center at TBI’s database.
